The unregistered microchip or rabies tag of lost pets found by animal rescues, shelters, foster parents, or good Samaritans should be saved as a tracking number in the lost pets profile you create.

The tracking number you have registered within My Pet Credentials can be entered by the pet owner as a google search, social media search, or at www.mpclost.com. A picture of the lost pet will be displayed along with identifying characteristics about the pet. In this way, a pet parent can quickly realize that their lost pet has been found. For a speedy and successful reunion, they will be able to contact the animal rescue, shelter, or foster parent caring for this lost pet.

Yes, indeed! For a Basic subscription, My Pet Credentials is 100% free for foster parents. We've packed a lot of technology into the basic package, including our one-of-a-kind lost and found service. In addition, unlimited family and foster pet profiles can be managed.

Our Premium subscription costs $23.95 per year. This allows all foster parents to take advantage of three additional very useful features. Keeping track of your foster pets' medical records, health certificates, rabies certificates, AKC certificates, and vaccination records. Accepting the transfer of ownership of a new family member or foster pet digitally and allowing your veterinarian to upload and verify the vaccination records of your foster pet.

The only difference is where you create your pet profiles. Many pet owners foster pets for rescues and shelters and some foster parents don’t have pets of their own. Where you create a pet profile is critical in case the pet is lost and found. You can add a pet as “My Pets” or “Foster Pets”

  • My Pets = Your family’s personal pets

  • Foster Pets = A pet you're temporarily caring for until they are reunited with their owner or adopted into a new home

The system keeps these categories separate for clarity and identification purposes to ensure the lost & found profile is displayed properly to those searching for the pet.

Simply log into your MPC account, click “Add a Pet,” as a Foster Pet and enter the pet’s information:

  • Basic details (name, gender, breed, age)

  • Microchip or rabies tag numbers (if available)

  • Photos (front, left, and right side photos) You can update and edit the pet’s information at any time.

You can create a Found Pet Profile as a Foster Pet in My Pet Credentials and assign the microchip or rabies tag ID as a tracking number.

If the original owner searches for their lost pet via Google, social media, or mpclost.com by entering a tracking number, your foster pet’s profile will appear, making a quick reunion possible.

Yes! Foster parents can initiate Transfer of Ownership to a pet’s forever home. The new owner will receive the pet’s microchip, rabies tag, health records, and profile digitally—no paperwork and no microchip registration required.
(Note: Accepting a transfer requires the new owner to have a Premium subscription.)

  • Foster Pets = A pet you're temporarily caring for until they are reunited with their owner or adopted into a new home

The system keeps these categories separate for clarity and identification purposes to ensure the lost & found profile is displayed properly to those searching for the pet.

If a foster pet goes missing, their tracking numbers (microchip or rabies tag) can be searched on Google, social media, or mpclost.com.

The pet’s Lost Profile will appear, helping rescuers or Good Samaritans contact you immediately to bring them back safely.
